About me

My journey.My experiences.What drives me.

Hi, I'm Marcus.

I was born in 1987 and grew up in Dessau-Roßlau, Germany. Today I live in Barcelona and work in IT consulting and project management. The path that brought me here was anything but straightforward – and that's exactly what I appreciate about it.

01 — Professional Journey

From Restaurant Kitchens to IT

After secondary school, I completed my apprenticeship as a chef and spent many years working in the restaurant business. My career took me to Munich, Austria, and eventually to Australia, where I spent one year.

In Melbourne, I wanted to gain new experiences, improve my English, and deliberately step outside my comfort zone.

Back in Munich, I took on increasing responsibility in different restaurants – first as a Chef de Partie and later as a Sous-Chef.

In 2018, I moved to Barcelona. What started as a personal fresh start also became a turning point in my career: I made the move from hospitality into IT.

Since then, I've worked on a range of projects, from IT service desk and field service coordination to IT management consulting.

My years in hospitality shaped me more than you might expect. A customer-first mindset, a strong sense of service, teamwork, and the ability to stay calm under pressure remain an integral part of how I work today.

02 — Running

Endurance. Progress. New Goals.

I was a member of an athletics club when I was young. During my years as a chef, long and irregular working hours gradually pushed sport into the background.

At the end of 2019, I rediscovered running. Since then, it has become a part of my everyday life.

Today, I run marathons and continue to challenge myself and improve.

03 — Travel, Hiking & Photography

New Places. New Perspectives.

I love travelling, exploring new places, and spending time in nature. Hiking and photography, in particular, help me step away from everyday routines, discover new perspectives, and capture memorable moments.

Whether I'm in the mountains, by the coast, or exploring a new city, being on the move means freedom, curiosity, and a constant source of fresh inspiration.
